"Checkout was a headache for me"
I was trying to order a gift from Smithsonian Store, i found the whole process frustrating. The pages felt slow to load, and the cart seemed to get confused whenever I changed the quantity of something.
The checkout part was the worst for me. It asked me to re-enter information I had already put in, then threw an error without really explaining what the problem was. I ended up going back and forth a few times and was close to just giving up.
Maybe I just caught the site on a bad day, but for a store like this, I expected the buying experience to be smoother. The products looked nice, but actually trying to purchase them was way more annoying than it should’ve been.
"Pretty overpriced for what you get"
Well... I was a little surprised by how expensive everything was. The quality seemed average to me, so I was expecting better value from a museum store.

"Refund is taking way too long"
I sent my order back weeks ago and, like, I’m still sitting here waiting for the refund to show up. I’ve reached out to customer service a few times, but they just keep giving me the same kind of copy-paste answer. It’s really frustrating, and yeah, I don’t think I’ll be buying from here again

"Not worth the shipping stress"
I ordered this as a gift, and the shipping ended up being way more stressful than I expected. The site made it seem like it would arrive in time, but the tracking barely changed for days and then the delivery date got pushed back twice. When I reached out, customer service basically just told me to keep waiting. The item might be nice, but I don’t like risking missing an occasion or wasting money on something that may not show up when promised. I’d be hesitant to order again unless the shipping gets more reliable

I reached out to support by email and never heard anything back. At some point, you kind of get the message without them actually saying it.

"Expected More From the Smithsonian Store"
I thought the Smithsonian store would have more unique or interesting finds, but most of it felt like the same stuff you’d see in any regular gift shop. The selection was small too, and a lot of the items seemed to repeat the same themes. I kept looking around thinking, why is it so complicated to find something that actually feels special here? In the end, nothing really stood out enough for me to buy.

"Not quite as authentic-looking as I hoped"
When it arrived, I kept comparing the details to the photos and a few little things just didn’t line up for me. Maybe I’m overanalyzing it, but the finish and overall look made it feel a bit cheaper than I expected. Shipping was totally fine, no issues there, but for the price, the quality felt average and I’m still not completely sure how authentic it is
